The NuVasive Spine Foundation™ (NSF) recently sponsored a U.S. patient assist in Newport Beach, Ca.
On August 23, 2013, Dan, an NSF patient, underwent spine surgery at L5-S1. The procedure, an Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF), was performed by Dr. Robert Bray at the DISC Sports and Spine Center (DISC) in Newport Beach. Now, Dan is back to participating in activities he once enjoyed before he was sidelined by back pain.
“My pain level and discomfort prior to surgery was very frustrating and discouraging,” said Dan. “The pain level was very high at times, but not necessarily completely debilitating for me. However, I considered it a show-stopper, as it prohibited me from performing physically and mentally at the very high levels expected of me in my job.”
Today, Dan has healed from his surgery and is now walking more than three miles daily with no pain.
“I cannot thank you all enough for what you have done for me,” said Dan. “With the help of Dr. Bray, DISC, and the NSF, I have a second chance and I am now living my dream.”
