Shaniqua is 17-year old from St. Philip’s Parish, Barbados. Three years ago, she was diagnosed with scoliosis, and her only option was to wear a back brace and wait for spine surgery. Not only was the brace uncomfortable, especially in the heat and humidity of Barbados, but Shaniqua was often bullied and began dreading going to school – something she once loved.

In December 2017, Shaniqua received spine surgery thanks to
the NuVasive Spine Foundation’s (NSF) Direct Mission to Barbados in partnership with World Pediatric Project. Post-surgery, Shaniqua hopes to further her love of learning overseas and pursue a college degree in Psychology. Donate to NSF today and help kids like Shaniqua have a chance at a full and healthy life!
