Held at The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, a world-class golf course, the NuVasive Spine Foundation’s (NSF) 10th annual golf tournament was a hole-in-one! The Foundation raised $410,000, the most money it has raised to-date through this event. These fundraising dollars will support future mission trips where the NSF provides life-changing spine surgery to individuals in disadvantaged communities across the globe. More than 130 golfers participated and enjoyed a day filled with great weather and lots of friendly competition all to support a meaningful cause. The day would not have been possible without the support and help of 40 NUVA Shareowner volunteers who ensured the event ran smoothly and was a memorable experience for all of our golfers and sponsors.

The NSF was created in 2009 to help people suffering from debilitating back pain in countries where there were few spine surgeons performing the life-changing surgeries needed. The NSF brings world-class spine surgeons to medically underserved communities to perform life-changing spine surgery and empowers the communities served to become self-reliant by training local surgeons and sharing NuVasive’s expertise and technology.

Throughout 2017, NSF has been diligently working to create a bright future for the organization. With Jamie Hagan, senior program manager, and Nic Didier, NSF ambassador, leading the charge, in 2017 NSF has supported mission trips in 12 countries to perform 120 life-changing surgeries, and the year is not even over yet! Over the next few months, NSF is supporting large trips to Belize, Mexico, Ethiopia and ending the year co-directing a mission trip to Barbados. As the team continues to build on the organization’s strong foundation, they are working hard to identify a new direct mission site which will help them continue to do what they do best, sending NuVasive surgeons around the world to share our expertise with local surgeons and underserved communities.
