Tim Daines

Tim Daines is the Sr. Director, Corporate Development and Real Estate for NuVasive®, Inc. His primary responsibilities include global real estate and other corporate development functions. Since 2007, Tim has led several strategic corporate projects, and opened more than 15 offices worldwide, including a new Headquarters in San Diego, and a major East Coast office in Paramus, New Jersey.
Tim has undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Chinese, as well as an International MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Prior to joining NuVasive, he lived and worked in China as General Manager for Cook Group, Inc., a U.S.-based medical device maker. Upon returning to the U.S., Tim successfully ran his own consulting firm, Red Gate Consulting, which specialized in helping companies market and sell high quality U.S.-made goods to the burgeoning middle class market in China. In 2007, Tim joined NuVasive, and quickly took on multiple strategic roles within the company.
Since his first days at NuVasive, Tim has been involved in various activities with the NuVasive Spine Foundation. In 2008, he supported the planning of the first annual golf tournament fundraising event. Tim has also participated in several other events throughout the years, including fundraising for Cheetah Gives Back as part of his participation in the 2009 and 2010 Livestrong Challenge events in Austin, TX, with the NuVasive cycling club. He believes that giving of oneself is the fastest path to happiness, and has made an effort to not only donate resources to the Foundation, but also donate his time.
Tim enthusiastically accepted the responsibility of becoming the Foundation’s Executive Director in September 2011. In his new role, Tim has two immediate goals for the Foundation. The first is to establish a strong relationship with Kenya’s Ministry of Medical Services and Kenyatta National University Hospital, working together with them to create a reliable infrastructure capable of supporting effective missions to that country for the future. The second is to build upon the outstanding results already achieved by the Foundation, continually growing and improving both fundraising efforts and mission success.
When Tim isn’t working or volunteering, you may find him riding his bike. An avid cyclist and a father of two, Tim commutes to work regularly on his bicycle, competes in several cycling events each year, and generally enjoys living and playing with his family in San Diego.
